Dr. Andrew Hobbs, DDS

Dr. Hobbs is a Fort Wayne native whose interest in pediatric dentistry began in high school when he worked at Dr. Wayne Dawes’ practice. Dr. Dawes, who founded Pediatric Dental Associates in 1968, provided Dr. Hobbs with an early experience that sparked his passion for working with children and ultimately inspired him to pursue a career in pediatric dentistry and return to join the practice.

Dr. Hobbs attended Indiana University for both his undergraduate education and dental school. He then completed a one-year General Practice Residency, followed by his pediatric dentistry residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

After returning to Fort Wayne in 2001, Dr. Hobbs joined his father-in-law, Dr. Dawes, at Pediatric Dental Associates and eventually took over the practice. He has continued the longstanding tradition of providing compassionate, high-quality dental care to children and their families throughout Fort Wayne, Northeast Indiana, and the surrounding areas of Ohio and Michigan.

Dr. Hobbs especially enjoys building lasting relationships with the families he cares for and helping children develop positive dental experiences that can last a lifetime. He is grateful to have spent so many years caring for the children and families of Fort Wayne and feels privileged to continue the legacy of a practice that has meant so much to his family and to the community.

Rachel Gentz, DMD, MS

Dr. Gentz is a board certified pediatric dentist and a Michigan native. She earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University before receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

After dental school, Dr. Gentz completed a two year postdoctoral residency in pediatric dentistry at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, graduating in 2015. During her residency, she also earned a master’s degree and completed research focused on pediatric dental sedation.

Throughout her career, Dr. Gentz has practiced pediatric dentistry in South Carolina, Michigan, and California. She is delighted to have returned to the Midwest and now cares for children and families in Fort Wayne, where she can be closer to her own family.

Dr. Gentz finds great fulfillment in helping children develop positive dental experiences and healthy smiles. She is passionate about providing compassionate, comfortable, and personalized dental care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs.

I joined Dr. Hobbs and the PDA team in 2001. I’m proud to be working with a great team of people who enjoy helping educate children on the importance of dental health. In my spare time I enjoy reading, crafting, and hunting with my husband.



I joined PDA in 2015. My goal is to make every patient feel at home when they walk through the door. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like to shop, vacation at the beach, and relax with a book.



I joined the PDA team in 2001. I have enjoyed working with our team and family of patients. In my free time, I like spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy being outdoors as much as possible.

I joined the PDA team in March of 2011. I love working with the children. It’s very rewarding to help and educate all the different families. My favorite things to do are spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, and watching my kids’ sporting events.
